The RNLI is the charity that saves lives and as we quickly approach the charity’s 200th year of operation we have expanded our work from Lifeboats and Lifeguards to Flood Rescue, Education, Prevention and International work. Our volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24 hour rescue service, 365 days a years across the UK and Ireland. Seasonal Lifeguards keep over 240 of the busiest beaches in the UK and on the Channel Islands safe across the summer and when necessary we have a specially trained Flood Rescue Team on call to carry out search and rescue operations wherever severe flooding puts lives at risk.
In and around Portsmouth our volunteers and staff work hard to provide a rescue service through our Lifeboats and Lifeguards, educate children about water safety and implement safety campaigns to work towards cutting the number of preventable deaths by drowning in the area. The RNLI is run entirely on public donations and their kind generosity allows us to continue saving lives at sea.
